Beta Reader

Do you need a Beta Reader for your gay fiction?  Are you a gay author who is looking for a fresh eye on your novel, short story, fanfic (fan-fiction) or screenplay?  Perhaps I can help.  As a writer myself, I understand the value of both close and distant perspective when it comes to your baby.I enjoy the process of writing, the creation of time, place, and setting; though I suppose we are all emotionally connected to the characters w.e we bring to life.  Dialog.  Now that's where the fun and the challenge lies.  What shall these characters of ours say? My name is Scott and I am beta reader.   I am also an author.  I wrote Boy In The Window: A Gay Youth Coming Out Story  admittedly a self-published work, but that does allow for a certain, additional approach to the work.  Due to my rather unique personal circumstance,  I also have plenty of time on my hands.   I cautiously devide my hours between my own project and those that I beta.  As such, I can get quite a bit accomplished making my turnaround time remarkably short..  And the best part... I'm free.  That's right.  I don't generally charge for my service.  People have various hobbies, model trains, watercolors, gardening... I beta read for other authors. So, with all of that said, you now know what this blog category is going to be about.  You may have noticed there are no dates on the blogs themselves.   This is intentional as the information is universally relevant.   The whole beta concept is pretty straight fotward and well defined. Not much is going to change really.  I suppose some may be wondering just what a beta reader is.  Simply put, a beta is someone who will read your work, whatever it is that an author puts before them and gives the material a good going over.  They make (both positive and constructive)  comments and then offers the work back to the author who will then heed or discard them as they see fit.  The level of scutiny asked of the beta varies, depending on exactly what the author is looking for.  A line edit?  Grammar and punctuation errors (often referred to as an editorial proof)?  A continuity edit, overall reaction to story, suggestive input, technical advice. .. the list goes on and on.In any event, I offer my dedicated services to any author of gay-themed works. To get the specifics, click here to go to the Beta page and perhaps we shall "entertain speaks on the matter."  Keep the ink flowing!
