My Art

My Art

With regard to gay art, we shall begin with an admission.  I have little to no artistic talent.  As a matter of fact, I am not an artist at all, but rather an illustrator.  I cannot conceptualize in my head.  I need to see what I am drawing.  All of my work is based in no small part of either the work of others or the natural beauty that might already exist.  I am also self-taught.  When I first began, I would draw a person standing next to a refridgerator and it would be necessary for me to label which was which.  I have improved somewhat, but clearly I will not be showing any of my stuff at MOMA.I like to work in the black and white and the subtle shades in between.  I therefore prefer to use graphite and charcoal as a mixed media.  The subject matter is a bit undefined.  Mostly I prefer to draw the aesthetic form of the male nude.  Not necessarily pornographic, I strive for the realism that exists in the nature of man and sometimes that can come off quite randy. I don't have much of my work laying about to share with you.  Most of it I have given to friends or managed to sell for Starving Artist wages.  The stuff I have to show here , save for a for exceptions, was done when I first started back in the early 2000s.In the category of gay art, as you might have guessed I love gay-themed photography.  Just a few of my favorite photographers are represented here.  I intentionally left out the "big names"  in an effort to perhaps introduce you to some you might not be aware of.
